Stars really are just like Us! Food allergies impact an estimated 32 million Americans, including several famous faces who have to avoid certain tasty eats including fish, peanut butter and more.
Ariana Grande, for example, had quite the food-scare in May 2019, when a surprising and severe allergic reaction to tomatoes forced her to cancel two Florida concerts. “We discovered … that … I had an unfortunate allergic reaction to tomatoes and my throat pretty much closed,” the singer explained via Instagram at the time. Grande, who is a vegan, is also reportedly allergic to bananas, shellfish, cats and some medicines.
The “God Is a Woman” singer’s peer, Miley Cyrus, is another high-profile allergy sufferer. The Hannah Montana alum opened up about her dietary restrictions in 2012 after she was slammed for being too skinny. Cyrus blamed her slender frame on a “gluten and lactose allergy,” according to a tweet in the midst of the criticism.
Given that food allergies are quite common in children, it’s no surprise that a handful of celebrity offspring are also allergic to certain edible items. Kylie Jenner rushed her daughter, Stormi Webster, to the emergency room in June 2019 when the then 16-month-old had an allergic reaction. Though Jenner didn’t reveal exactly what her daughter was allergic to, the reaction was thought to be caused by something she ate.
